Design and Development Construction Supervision Testing and Commissioning Handing Over
The Al Jazeera Club Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium was originally opened in 1979 in Abu Dhabi. Morgan was appointed to more than double the spectator capacity into the largest football stadium in the UAE during this second expansion. The Scope of Works included the detailed design, and construction completion including superstructures, civil works, finishes, MEP works, lighting, signage & graphics, external works, connection to existing utilities, completion, fit for purpose, and maintenance of the expansion to approx. 42,000 spectators capacity and associated works of Al Jazeera Club, Abu Dhabi (second, third and fourth floor levels), with extension of the two office facilities at both corners adjacent to the Grand Stand. The works included: Extending the existing stadium to cater for approx. 22,000 more spectators; Detailed design and construction allowance for the continued normal operation of the existing activities; Review of design for the wind effect and temperature variations; Consideration of the connection of two buildings to be placed at the corners of the stadium; Addition of more floors (4 extra floors) to the small building – the 2 south corners; Designing for LED system around the stadium – second level by specialist; Design of VIP rooms the largest of which holding 100 persons; Design of balconies between 2nd level on the west and east sides with catering and service areas; and the modifications to the existing grand stand building and existing lower tiers.
